BASF worked with Citroën to create a new fully electric car concept – The Oli. The team was using plastics, coatings and 3D printing from BASF, resulting in a truly innovative and unique design. BASF materials helped realize the seats along with twenty other parts for this project. This innovative material was perfectly suited to generate the complex 3D-printed geometries needed for the seats that are both simultaneously very flexible as well as fully functional.

Ultrafuse® PLA HS is a filament specifically designed for high-speed 3D printing with high fluidity and fast cooling capability. It can be extruded consistently at high speed, and fast cooling and forming. On high-speed printers, it can reach 600mm/s. And it is also suitable for most of the printers on the market, improving the printing speed of common printers. It has very stable printing performance. The printed parts are detailed, flat with good strength and toughness.

To increase fuel efficiency and aerodynamics, GM implemented design changes late in the production process of a popular SUV, but these updates came with additional supply chain hurdles. In order to avoid a 6-month delay and to meet the delivery date for 30,000 vehicles, GM used Ultrasint® TPU01 to produce 60,000 parts in just 5-weeks while meeting stringent quality, color, and weatherability requirements.
